SUMMARY:Climate & Impact Summit
DESCRIPTION:Climate change is reshaping the world in irreversible ways.
Record-breaking heat, catastrophic flooding, biodiversity co
llapse and water scarcity putting the systems that sustain l
ife under ever-growing strain. Global food supply chains are
destabilising, and natural carbon sinks — forests, wetlands
, permafrost — are beginning to emit more carbon than they a
bsorb. On top of this, the Arctic Ocean is on track to see i
ts first ice-free day before 2030.\n\nTo meet the goals of t
he Paris Agreement, and limit the average temperature rise i
n this century to below 2 degrees Celsius, global emissions
must fall 43 per cent by 2030. Yet this transformation must
take place in economies still largely reliant on fossil fuel
s, and at a time when global electricity demand is projected
to double by 2050. There is progress. In 2024, clean electr
icity surpassed 40 per cent of global power generation — led
by solar, now the cheapest source of electricity in history
  — and levels of investment in the energy transition exceed
ed $2tn for the first time.\n\nBut, today, climate action re
quires more than emissions targets. In an era of weakened in
stitutions and rising geopolitical instability, businesses m
ust help uphold the core principles — accountability, transp
arency, the rule of law — that will help balance climate res
ilience with economic priorities. This year, the FT’s Climat
e & Impact Summit combines the insights of the FT’s Moral Mo
ney and Climate Capital teams to host practical discussions
on the scale of the crises we face — and the opportunity we
still have to shape a fairer and more sustainable society.\n
